    Who ownes .COM?

    Do any of you know who (what country) has claim to .com, if any? For example .jp is Japan... is .com an American thing?

      .com means 'commercial' therefore it is owned globally by commercial entities irrespective of their country of origin

                  .com is not owned by anyone, merely administrated by groups. ICANN has a role in this has an international organisation regulating the internet. Verisign has some input as do the domain registrars
