They aren't really trying to change their name, but rather spin the "Fried" angle. For years now they've been saying KFC rather than referring to the original terms.

Atkins, south beach etc are all fads. Yes people are fat, yes they will get sick, and yes some people are trying to change, sadly most never will and that is why the diet industry is so fucking huge.

Truth be told Coke, KFC, McDonalds and everyone else is in a win win. They can help us get fat and help us get thin. They cater to our desires and make money on both ends.
