well...do you think someone will actually get prosecuted for not complying?
Do you think anyone will be prosecuted for the new 2257 laws?

For errors in trying to conform no especiallly if all your models are over 18. If you decide to do nothing then yes probably but who knows.Comment

They create a law that it almost impossible to comply with, why would they do this if they wouldn't plan on some major attacks against the industry...Comment

correct me if I am wrong, but the body that enforces 2257 has to report back yearly their findings................
This is what i understood to be the case.
And I can't see them going into their meeting without something to justify their existance.Comment

yea no shit Asscrack went in and reported he hadn't done any record checks, and had no excuse as to why. Yet he did have a brand new version of the law, which is what we are facing now.Originally posted by AaronM

Damn, ok they will not go after every single site on the net. They will pick and choose easy wins. This in turn will cause wide spread panic and webmasters will quit instead of becoming compliant. Yet since it seems everyone and their brother in law run a tgp and call themselves webmasters, I would imagine once a few go down many will follow and thin the heard a great deal.Originally posted by M_M
Will they go after every single thumb tgp?Comment

but it will affect only american sites, right?Originally posted by freeadultcontent

as mentioned above, yes they have a list.
after the clarification they will wait awhile for people to comply then they will nail them.
law states they check you every 4 months.
think what that will cost?
anything for a show for the elections.
that is what it is about.Comment

i think people will take their chances on this one.. and if they start enforcing this shit, webmasters will go offshore or just close shop..
if thats what america wants, let it be..
there are much easier and more efficient ways to fight child porn, but this seems more like a war against porn in general..;-)!;-)!;-)!;-)!;-)!;-)!;-)!;-)!;-)!;-)!;-)Comment

and to add, they're not gonna throw webmasters across the usa in jail for not being 2257 compliant. wouldnt be worth it for anyone (UNLESS the pics were proved to be under 18 yrs of age). then i can see them going to jail, but not just for not having a 2257 link on sites.Comment

I don't know if they will go after anyone specifically for this law, but I'm sure they will use it if they want to nail someone bad enough and can't get them on anything else...
let's face it, even if you're records are super clean and 100% in compliance, you still don't want the Feds snooping around...god forbid they find a single image in your cache that you can't account for...Comment

Why does everyone think they can get a overseas server or be overseas not to be effective? Where are 90% of your sponcers/cc processors at.....I think that will answer your question ;-)Originally posted by M_M

Actually I disagree, I think they will hit some mom pops. It will scare others closed and they dont have the money to challenge it. Thats why the big fish have to decide to band together and if that happens send a lawyer to fight. The more wins they get the harder it will be to fight.Originally posted by bringer
yeah, and it'll be someone big
they need an example to ensure everyone else complysComment

You are very right and you would have to move with the server for it to work. As long as the money comes into this country you are fucked. You can change whats happening by getting out and vote I cant say it enough.Originally posted by shaneFPS

but they won't be going after 92384902384932 adult pages, they will go after 10-20 like they did with operation pipe dreams, and scare the rest of the small ones into closingOriginally posted by emthree
I'm just confused
The overall idea does not seem feasible w/ 92384902384932 adult pages out there.
look what they did here
http://www.usdoj.gov/dea/pubs/pressrel/pr022403.html
they went after 20-30 bong sellers online, and then the rest of the pack closed shop out of fearComment
