Today things would definitely be different if someone hijacked an American plane.
But at the time this happened, hijacked planes usually landed and people were held hostage and negotiated out by the government. Trying some cowboy shit back then would probably have gotten more people killed than if you had just sat down and shut up.

Nobody could have known what the terrorists were going to do with those planes. Now that we do know, it'll never happen again.

The fucked up thing is that now we have become so politically correct in this country that we (security in the airports) can only check 2 middle-eastern individuals per flight. There was an article I read recently about a women who took a flight with 17 middle eastern men and they could only check 2 of them. They could not check people with orthopedic shoes etc.

To me this is bullshit, the article also stated that the plan is now to carry bombs on the planes in pieces. Since we can only check 2 people the odds of finding pertinent pieces to a bomb with 5 or so hijackers on the plane is going to be difficult. Being that I live in Michigan and Michigan has the largest middle eastern population outside of the middle east I always look around before I fly and see who is on the plane at minimum. I don't plot out how I would kick their ass or anything.

I would have said fuck it and taken the chance to take them out. Quickly rally all the big guys on board to go for it.

The only thing that stops a small number of bad guys from being overtaken by a large group of good guys is you need 1 leader with no fear to stand up, put himself in the line of danger, and rally everyone to unite and fight. Once you get the momentum of one, then two, then three, that's all you need. You'd have half the plane on top of the fuckheads crushing them to death.

It was reported that the plane that eventually went down in Pennsylvania had a few brave souls that tried to overtake the hijackers (I remember some transcript saying, "We're a few that's going to try to take these guys out..."). If this is true, or that the plane was shot down by fighter jets we don't know.
