I use a dell laptop. good customer service and high quality. 1 gig of ram and a p4 cpu.

My daughter has a mac laptop. Its easy to use and gets the job done.

Celeron based laptops are fine if you are the one buying them, not using them. Go with the P4 or Centrino processors, Celerons lack adequate cache and will never be as fast as you want it to be.

Go with Sony, they have a new line of business desktop replacement VAIO's...17" wide screen...all the goodies...

if you have money to spend.. nothing else than IBM
Toshiba is nice. Same for Asus. I even think they're better.

Celeron is a castrated Pentium... therefore lil bit slower but cheaper. I wouldn't go for high Ghz laptops. They heat up like crazy and the fan's driving you nuts. More expensive but definitely worth the $$ is a PentiumM CPU

you may want to check out P4 processors, doesnt cost that much compared to Celeron which is a bit slow for a laptop users nowdays

i got a dell inspiron 510m equipped with Centrino processor 1.6 Ghz, it heats up a bit, but its very fast, and besides it's very compact....

there are many good laptops, you should find out what you're looking for exactly, power, or portability, or a bit of both

Actually the 17" wide screen Sony are what I thought I might go for (if I can find a decently priced one). My only fear about that is the distortion it might show of the digital images I shoot and view on it.

I had a sony before and an asus... the asus was the worst laptop I ever saw with a bulky 3 tons power supply. Now I got a gateway xl200 and I'm in love with it. I highly recommend it

Actually the 17" wide screen Sony are what I thought I might go for (if I can find a decently priced one). My only fear about that is the distortion it might show of the digital images I shoot and view on it.

I don't have the url with me at the moment, just rec'd a direct mailer from Sony on these new VAIO's...I distinctly remember 1 model for Pro video editing, 64MB graphics support, 17" screen...it was pricey, I think the base model was 2000.00 but you are talking about a desktop replacement. a good DV (desktop) setup will run more than that.

i have a 15 inch g4 apple powerbook that i bought for 3700 bucks and i haven't really used it that much!!! i don't know what the deal is, but i just can't seem to make myself leave my desktop pc and convert to mac... ANY SUGGESTIONS?
