Cohibas and customs
So I bought 3 boxes of Cuban Cohiba's in Europe, how should I get them to the states? If I pack them with me and customs finds them, do they just confiscate them, or something worse?

You could declare them on the custom and pay some taxes
But you could also try to carry with you without declaration, good luck!

This is what I do.
get 3 empty 'non illegal' cigar boxes
remove the labels and pack those away.
take the cigars and put them in the 3 boxes.
mail them to your house

Yeah, when I bring them over from Canada I just take the labels off them, but I don't have any empty boxes. Just wondering if I'll get arrested if I get caught with them or if they'll just confiscate them.Originally posted by Fred Quimby

Except my wife had the bands and box in her luggage.
this way, if customs asks, the unbanded cigars are dominican or someother legal import.
Its not a problem at all to remove the bands a put them back on either.....

You are allowed 20 cigars per person. They aren't illegal to have, just to sell. A lawyer in Chicago just got 10 years for selling them, but if you're just getting them for youself, you're fine.

It's possible that you'll run into an extra egocentric US customs agent... (they are mostly all assholes) who will treat you like a criminal if they find them in your belongings.
So best thing is to mail 'em or change the labels or something.Comment
