The USA can hold 50 states together and prosper, as it was designed that way.
Europe is trying to take individual countries, that have fought each other for centuries, with different languages, different traditions, etc etc.
The EU can not keep 25 states in order, and the nationalistic pride of the once been world powers is going to make it fall apart.
True original thought is squashed in Europe, because of fear it will break the status quo of the cradle to grave.
