    domain squatting - serious offense?

Hi guys and gals, 1st post here on GFY

With all the domain buying talk lately I thought i would throw this one out there

What about buying a .org name that matches a big international company's .com name? Would you do it or skip it?

Are there ways to stay relaltively safe from getting sued and having to give up the domain due to trademark laws?

My idea was to put up some sort of a site so the domain would be in use and then wait for them to contact me. Even it takes a year or more - I figure they will come back and want to get their .org name.

Do international companies give a shit about .org anyway?

    Matt

    that's 1996 logic

you'll have to go after 1000s domains to get a sale by waiting to be contacted

        I used to own PORSCHE.ORG

        Guess what!

I was using it for our local porsche club, I had 4 porsche's totally official and all.

They sued me, and I went to court and won against them in Virginia at that time, then 1 year later the fuckers changed the law and just gave the domain to Porsche.

Don't waste your time and money!
