    2257 Software Creators- My Suggestions

Hey, I know there are a million threads already, but since more than one of you are working on this I figured I would mention this since others must be thinking it. As a producer with his own content, I would be very interested to purchase this kind of software that I could run *locally* on my own personal computer hard drive to organize all my documentation for however many image sets, movies, web sites etc I own so that I have everything nice and organized to be compliant.

Some of these other features mentioned in other threads in the other software being developed don't seem that practical to me. I am certainly not interested in learning server side scripting or whatever to set my database up and run it on a server or to make this info available online. Nor am I really interested in a futile effort to pool my 2257 data into some central database, or use it to track production company/talent agency business. No disrespect, I think it is great that smart people are working on this problem, I just want to voice my suggestions, and see if this makes sense to others and maybe influence the creations.

    same here.

there are a bunch of producers that do not sell but only run their own paysites.

for these people model IDs are a breeze, but matching a hundred thousand images to thousands of different URLS is nightmare.

a coder could sell this utility to many.

In my2257 you can do it locally. They will have lots more info available. Don't worry it fucking rocks. We have been using it for months and it really kicks ass.

If you guys want something to run locally, on a Windows machine, there are several OOP database programs out there that are reasonably priced that can create the software in a few hours (if you know how to set up the DB of course). Even with learning the OOP languages, your investment of time and money may save you some money and since the system would run on your machine locally it may better suit you as a producer or if you sell your own content.

What kind of price range are they looking at? For a local version I mean.

They said they will release prices soon. And it will be affordable. I don't have details right now. But we sure as hell will get it when its ready.

Actually the regulations seems to suggest that you *have* to keep the data locally, at your place of business, even the electronic data. But there aren't any regulations like that I know of, like that, and its also quite ambiguous whether you need the server, the entry station, or the disk drive locally.

Most businesses don't keep their data in every single location, we have central servers. Then again these new regs were not apparently written like most regulations. If this was the poultry industry we'd already have an injunction and somebody fired by now.

I'm not too familiar with the 2257 regulations and what information needs to be collected and stored since we mostly work in mainstream, but we're interested in developing software capable of storing and organizing whatever data is necessary if someone could walk us through it.

We'll provide a free copy to whoever helps us with this. I would rather discuss this over IM with someone experienced since we're trying to get a general idea of what people would like to see in such software.

Sounds good. Look forward to hearing more when it's ready. Now I just have to hire an assistant to start scanning and re-organizing my documentation.

Yes. You sure do, with the amount of data that we have, we had to hire a person full time to do it.
