She did sing several non-country songs during this year's competition but that's part of the American Idol standard. All contestants are challenged/expected to try something different than their typical musical preference. I specifially remember her singing songs by Martina McBride, Rascal Flatts, etc. Neither of them have crossed over to the pop side of music. But it's just funny to me when country fans defend a lot of these artists who are so obviously pop music. I listen to a wide variety of music and a lot of times I'll hear an r&b artist, a pop artist and a country artist all singing the same fucking song, but one with a "country" arrangement, one with the r&b arrangement and one with a pop arrangement. And they were all written by the same top 40 songwriter in Los Angeles. But yea, it's not pop music.
