There's a couple of side by side reviews for you. Ultimately, it depends on your preferences. They're both great cameras and very close comparably.

I have the Rebel XT and am VERY happy with it

Both are very good cameras. 350 does tend to produce smoother looking images and the colour is imo a bit better than the D70. Remember when buying a DSLR you are buying into a system to ie lenses. I swithered between the 350 and D70 but eventually picked the 350 as its more up to date technology but I think I would have been happy with my choice either way.
