I have some stripper friends willing to shoot content for a new site but have no clue what I need to do as far as release waivers, legal issues, etc. Does anyone know a good reference? I talked to my attorney but he knows nothing about porn!
I need a good reference for shooting content (dos/don'ts)

I wish everything was that simpleOriginally posted by SinisterStudios
GET A GOOD ATTORNEY ASAP, before you shoot anything. This is the best piece of advice anyone can give you.
Other things you gotta think about:
1. Technical stuff (cameras, flashlights etc.)
2. Marketing stuff - who do you gonna sell the content?Last edited by Buzz; 07-20-2004, 07:45 AM.Comment

Do your self the HUGE Favor!!!
Forget about the cameras for now, and think about an attorney..
These guys are not pushing you in the wrong direction, they are pushing you AWAY from jail..
trust what they say.
After the attorney, any poloriod will do.

After the attorney and getting your butt covered invest in good Photoflex lights. Dont be cheap on lights. Buy many of them. You will need them. Minimum 6 meg camera and extra power strips, umbrella lights, and a nice variety of backgrounds if your not shooting outside. Allow for extra distance between you and the subject. Just a few notes..
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.Comment

Hey...
I'm not a content producer, but thought about trying it out so I looked around at a few articles, sites, etc...
If you are interested in also selling the content, check out ounique.com . they are a content provider and also sell/distribute content for photographers. Once you register, there is a section for photographers about what they need in terms of release forms and ID, plus they provide some sample release templates
I dont know if you have studied photography or done much before (other than snapshots) but I would check out some tutorials, and also look over any photosets you already own. I know this may sound stupid, but you will need to mindful of proportions, depth of field, lighting, the model's pose, etc...
you may want to buy some photo instruction books or look for some tutorials on the web ;)
thats just my cheap two cents, but I hope it helps!Comment

Legally, you're going to have to have:
(1) a good model release, and I mean as close to bullet-proof as you can get...models, especially strippers, tend to cause headaches at times.
(2) Unless you're going to use the content strictly for your own use on your own site, you'll need a license to grant publication rights to other users...either non-exclusive or exclusive
(3) If you want to sell the content to other providers, you'll also need a resell license. I personally grant resell rights to any buyers of exclusive content, so for them, it's included in the exclusive license.
(4) A good LOCAL lawyer, familiar with community standards of your area. Depending on where you live, you can follow every federal law to the 'T', but get busted for local obsenity laws, even if you're just shooting softcore.
...just to name a few...don't forget 2 forms of ID from the models.Comment
