    Start Educating Surfers...

    It's time we pushed out all the people who survive on billing tricks. More sites should have real content, easy to understand terms and be upfront about their whole billing process. AND cancelation procedure. Those that have real content or something unique to offer will survive - those that have nothing and are in fact scammers and approach the industry as such will perish and it's about fucking time they did.

    who the fuck would EVER want to pay for a site only to find the members section is nothing but upsells and has no real content - and then you buy an upsell only to find MORE upsells. too many idiots have fucked the surfer over for too long on that business model. it's time for the dinosars to experience extinsion - on a mass level.

                                          I keep my sites very clean. no upsells, no bullshit. I have great rebills and I notice a lot of customers names comming back time and time again. I guess they leave to try out other sites and return because of the points you made. I'd rather have a customer who trusts the owner, than to just totaly pick him clean the first time. I'm not putting down sites that use upsells or mazes. Just running things this way works well for me.

                                                                                      I work with alot of webmasters who have done just that and going on their feedback I'm pretty confident. Our payout structure is pretty simple, there are no gender ratios or rates only offered once a month, etc. The per email is flat, and the revshare plan is only a few small hops to 60%. ICQ me if you want more info. It would be cool if you tried the program out and let everyone know the results.

                                                                                          You know, I don't see a problem with members areas that have some upselling going on, as long as the site also contains a fair amount of content for the price paid for a membership. It's the sites that are nothing more than an 'upsell farm' that suck with huge lips.

I have had tons of members email me saying they took some time off from my site to go try other sites, but they realized that most of the other sites they found were ripoffs in one way or another, so they came back to me.

                                                                                                                          Mind you, I've also received a bunch of emails from people saying "I love your free area, but I can't trust a site with my money since I've been screwed over so many times before. How can you promise me that won't happen again?" Sometimes I'm able to convince them and sometimes I'm not, but the point is that SOMEONE else has so pissed off this surfer that he is no longer a potential customer.

But I doubt it would be so easy to agree where exactly to draw the line. I wouldn't promote most of the sponsors in the sigs of this thread (primarily over the content issue), but obviously others are perfectly happy promoting them.

                                                                                                                                  Another problem is that so few sites meet reasonably high standards across the board, that were we all to promote them, you would be talking instant over-exposure.

No stipulations at all. Long as the affiliate reaches his minimum payout (starting at 30$), he gets paid. We currently don't have a per-email program or per-signup program, only revshare, but that will change with our new version launching August 1st

For us, half of our sign-ups every month come from members who were members before, quit and are now coming back. And, since they are direct type-ins there's no referral fee to pay so it's all money that goes back into our site, or into our pockets

                                                                                                                                                                          I would say that this is the only way to run a porn business, but the fact is there are a lot of people who have made some serious cash by treating customers fairly poorly. The question is how many bridges are they burning? Eventually it seems like customers will become more savvy and demand more. I think that the fact that you see so many successful review sites popping up is a sign of this.

                                                                                                                                                                                          There's no way any individual can do that - other than using the current paysite review / rating sites.

                                                                                                                                                                                          Using those as a guide would help increase people's revenues.
