Shouldn't that be left up to a INDEPENDANT orginzation? It's simple the Green party would take way Dems votes. And the Libertarians would take away votes from the GOP. If the Dems were smart they'd let the Greens have all the extreme left Dems. It's their views or at least the way Republicans can distort their views and then paint ALL dems with that "liberal" brush and thus cost Dems elections. If the extreme left went to the Green Party, Dems could say "Nope that's not us, that's the Greens"

Well...in fact there are one or more members of Congress from the Independent party...but I am not going to take the time to look up their names.
Any of the mulitple parties that exist can be a part of the debates but they have to have a certain percentage of members in their party (relative to the size of the big two) to do so (I believe the number is as little as 5%...but I could be mistaken). As I stated the voters/public can oust the GOP or the Democrats as being the two most popular parties during any election period...if the so choose.
Those that do not have the percentage to enter into the GOP and Democrats debate still can be seen debating via PBS and C-Span...and Town hall venues...if people are interested. Most are not.
