The issue of terrorism, etc... has only come up in the last 3 years... not a factor with kids like this. This stems from the TOTAL changes that occured in this socioty starting in the late 60s. I'm old enough to have lived through the change.
Instead, parents have tried to be SO liberal with their kids behavior, taught them NOT to respect authority, and NOT to respect conventional politeness, customs, etc.... starting in the 70s and 80s, encouraged by sort headed child counselors that have thrown away any real respect for adults, and rules. There is NO "fear of police" like there was when I was a kid, when I was a child you were taught NOT to talk like these kids were talking to that driver.
This is a 30 year old problem.... you can't pin it on the the present administration, sorry...

This is true, many liberals thought we could do away with physical reinforcement of certain basic rules regarding how one treats others in polite society. In many cases, setting the proper example is enough to raise well-disciplined children and there's a lot to be said for not hitting your kids.
However, many of us are coming back to the 'beat his ass when he needs it' philosophy. Particularly when the parents are even more ill-behaved than the children and just as clueless. Someone has to put the smack down somewhere.
