I hear you saying you "got off easy", but the whole thing smacks of such unfairness it's pathetic. The reason for splitting up in many of these instances is that the "ex" is being an idiot in some way, and is making a lot of lives miserable. Such a person deserves the door and a kick in the pants, not boats and ongoing incomes. There are some screwed up laws in the world these days.

Jimmyf is right, she will more than likely be back. Over the past 3 years, whenever I've run an ad in the local paper for new models she has called me up. She has shown up at my door before, like 2 years ago after she and some of her crackhead friends had a bad car accident. She was taken to the hospital that I used to work at (it's only 1 block from my house), but she left the ER because they wouldn't "just give her something for the pain". They insist that patients play by <i>their</i> rules, not the patient's rules, so she walked out.
The fact is, she was scared that her drug use would show up in her blood work. I drove her home that time. This chick thrives on that type of drama. She'll be back.
