    Why is I written as I and not i ?

    I actually never understood why I is always written with capital i and not just i.

    I understand that words as You could be written like that for respect. But that is not the case with the word I.

    Anyone an idea?

    America = invididualism => I
    Europe = collectivism => You

    I don't use ICQ anymore.

      Names are capatilized and since people do not refer to themselves in the 3rd person and use I instead the rule of capitalizing a given name applies.

                                      English isn't such a easy language, as far as I've heard. So I guess that when you're teaching you english, they must find better ways to make you learn it, so they start with the basics: "I means me. You write it this way: I." And everybody goes like: "Whow! Cool..."

                                      Or something...
