whatever, the post is self-serving drivel...

The same ppl trying to command the respect of their peers or profession trip over their dicks to post drunken pictures of themselves...or pics of ppl throwing up or oggling live fuck shows.

It's funny, cause the same ppl in here trying to pat themselves on the back for having a conventional marketing job are pretty silent in the "naugty allie" thread about her stellar results from pulling a Dick Cheney. Which pretty much proves my point...

      Get real.

Pr0n is totally different than most businesses, but it doesn't mean that normal business tactics and ethics aren't appreciated.

I know I'll take heat, but I'm sure others were thinking about the point I just articulated.

In the immortal words of Spanky Johnson Hate me. Hate Hate Hate hate hate.

Absolutely right, thats some really good points. I ran into the DIVX rep in San Diego. The asshole totaly insulted me and turned off the client he wanted land when he did that. His approach lost two maybe three possible clients.

So you screwed once and but now I can trust you? I don't think so.
            I agree with that.

No, I do not think you killed the thread. I think you gave your opinion, and that is appreciated. I would be a hypocrit to the highest degree to insult you for that.

But I think you might have misinterpretted this slightly.

There is no doubt, PureCash challenges marketing boundaries in this industry. As do many other companies, CJ, to name only one. I am obviously a part of that campaign, which includes, but is not exclusive too taking webmasters to mexican border towns and belly flop contest.

The Marketing, in my opinion, is slick, smart and effective. It is more my style.

That said, I was more referring to companies hiring Sale's reps that consistently seek out dramatic post as a method of marketing. Sale's reps that can't articulate a proper sentence when needed choosing to overcompensate with filth tactics, such as calling out people with "drama" threads. I am not referring to owners, just the reps.

As far as people posting pictures of each other at webmaster events, I would say that is a personal preferrence. I would never start a thread attacking someone in the industry without a tremendous amount of evidence and potential losses on my end.

So in essence, I think we are talking about two different beast.

                  Corey,
I am new to this industry and have not had the pleasure of meeting you but I have to say you are my hero!!!!!!!!!!

Last year at this time I was approached by the principles of XOD to head their sales and marketing group. At the time, I was on my 8th year buying and selling non-ferrous metals and chemicals.
I knew nothing about plating nickel, but I knew how to buy and sell by building relationships and having keen business acumen.
8 years later I know everything there is to know about the industy but still do not understand a damn thing about the chemistry involved. To me it is business no different then any other product out there. You could have a product to beat out all other products but at the end of the day if you do not market it correctly it has little chance.

I was hoping this industry would be the same, however until your post, I was beggining to thing my mainstream business skills put me in a disadvantage. I do not want to beleive the solid business people are a needle in a haystack. I have been trying very hard to make contacts and open up a business dialog. It kills me that in the 6 months I have been working here I have been asked if I like to be spanked, ask to show my boobs or the best one is send me a picture and we will talk....I am just glad to know some of the needles in the haystack have revealed themselves!
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

There are two types of specimen involved in this industry.

                      1) The ones that overcompensate for a lack of sound business strategy using inferior marketing tactics such as "calling people out for Bullshit" or "drama." They in essence are following the lead of some pretty big players and program owners. They do not understand that the program owners are just having fun, and have lots of money. They miss the reality of what they are losing.

                      2) The people that posted in this thread. Good people.

This industry is fun. We all have fun. But if your best marketing tactic consist of bashing others, you should pack your bags. Bookmark this thread and use it to vent whenever you like.

Great thread and very appropriately bumped with last nights subject matter. Alot of great insight, comments and observations all the way around for sure

It seems that lately webmasters are getting tired of certain behavior at the shows as well as behavior on the boards. I wonder if some of the reasons might be that it's so much more difficult to make money at this than it used to be. Webmasters are getting tired of wasting their time. Time being wasted sifting through utter bs attention whore postings and wasted time building relationships at conventions with people who have little knowledge of their own product and are in this simply to get a glimpse of a tit and get shitfaced.

But on the other hand I'm a firm believer in NOT burning your bridges if at all possible.. you NEVER know which newbie idiot will be cutting YOUR paychecks someday.
