    Kimmy: No one cares how long you been in the industry.
    I've been a teenager for 7 years. Does that make me special? Not really.

    If you don't mind your 13 year old being exposed to that kind of stuff... good for you. That's YOUR damn choice, not everyones. MANY people don't appreciate having to explain things like that to their children. Not everyone is proud to be in porn. It is just a job.


    HOWEVER Kimmy, I agree 200% about nose to the grindstone. An excellent point. Don't let everything bother you and sometimes you just have to let go. I mean half the people complaining don't even make money in adult anyways so who gives a shit if they didn't signup to the program. LOL.

                    On more than one occassion I have just been sitting on the phone and accidentally hit my mouse and it hit the banners and there it goes..."I'm cumming!"
                    Only to get a startled response on the other end..."what was that?"
                    Luckily in most cases it was my father, and only in 1 was it an insurance company that I'm dealing with over a car accident.

                    Let me sum it all up by saying this.

                    Drama sells...but it sells to the lowest common denominator. If you think you're getting the cream of the crop by being the most annoying poster, the most offensive poster, etc on GFY then you will soon have another think coming.

                    Another thing...yeah this is Lensman's board. If he approves of it great for him. However as time moves on and people start disabling flash, turning off sound and even sigs those advertising $'s won't be as strong.

                    I can tell you right now I won't see another single flash banner on this site again. Just because of this one incident I have taken the time to do what was necessary in order to be that responsible adult those who love the sound banners think we should be.

                    So thank you guys...now my nieces won't ever hear coming from a banner a screaming orgasm again, nor will my father.


                    Sound is one thing, but what you bellow out is a problem here too. Since we are (mostly) webmasters/mistresses, why do you have to have it that way anyhow? Why not say something to US rather than surfers? Something that while it may be annoying, wouldn't cause us or our families harm.
                    We forget, simple as that and unfortunate that we too have had to disable flash.

                                            Because pretty much every advertiser prior to this has had the sound turn off on mouse off, meaning that if we don't want to listen, we can stop it in a fraction of a second.

                                            The sound banners used to irk me a little, but never to the point that i'd even consider disabling advertising on GFY.

                                            Now other advertisers are going to feel a pinch in the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns on GFY because there's a hell of a lot of folks who have disabled the adverts because of this incident.

                                            It sickens me that knowing full well that kids were hearing that kind of thing, that she would still run the banner. The almighty dollar, eh?

                                                Sorry, but it's the same thing. We all KNOW 40% or whatever of our traffic is kids, but because we are all busy making money, we don't do a damn thing about it. We KNOW plenty of sponsors are screwing their customers and we keep sending them more.

                                                The only "ethic" in this business seems to be "make money" and screaming ads on webmaster boards don't plumb the depths near as badly as a lot of stuff we routinely accept.

Do you call that professional? Do you think that attitude will serve you well over the long term?

                                                                                                                            You may think that people over reacted. But this was not just an irritating noise, it was a noise that could seriously embarrass people professionally and personally and it is a noise that parents did not want their children to hear. This was all explained to you repeatedly but you persevered anyway because people were joining your program.

                                                                                                                            Ironically I think that the greatest victims of your inconsiderate behavior are the other GFY advertisers and adult.com, since a large number of people have now disabled Flash and thereby diminished the value of GFY as an advertising venue.

Nope. Hell, if I worried about everything that annoyed me, I'd never get any work done at all. Or work with the various successful groups of people that I do.

                                                                                                                                                    I've been around this industry since '99, and you guys just need to keep your head up about this and your noses to the grindstone while you're building your business. Do not, for a minute, let the things that people post about you on a message board make you start to worry about what people will think before you make a choice. If you do that, you'll never get anything done at all. And believe me, in the course of the last five plus years, I've seen pretty much anything and everything posted about myself, true or not, on a ton of message boards. There was a time when I had to ask my friends to stop jumping in to defend me and just let it go, there was so much crap going on.

                                                                                                                                                    But at the end of the day, if you work towards your own goals, and realize that popularity doesn't spend like cash does, you'll come out successful.

You should focus on getting your own traffic and not depending on affilates. I spoke to my lawyer today , with the changes in 2257 you will have to give full 2257 info model releases and ids to your affilates who use your pics. Now its fun to have them all sign up but it wont be as fun when you have to give out copies of your drivers license to them all. Depend on yourselves not others. The world is changing.
