I was reading in today's newspaper that IBM is supplying the chips to all 3 gamebox companies; Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. The same Power-PC chip is used in all three systems; but, IBM designs the chips differently for each system.
Yup considering that the Psone and Newer version of the PS2 are both small kinda defeats the purpose of 2 consoles, with a next-gen ps3 back to bulky. An idea as well that with the HDD capabilites the PS3 may not even me a new unit rather an addon connector thingo to the ps2.
Also Im sure the above images are either dex's or fakes, fugly ass looking if other.
We have all three (XBox, PS2, GameCube), and I like the XBox now, and will probably like the XBox 360 even more.
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.
Sony also confirmed the PlayStation 3 will use Blu-ray discs as its media format. The discs can hold up to six times as much data as current-generation DVDs. It will also support CR-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R formats. Sony also confirmed the machine would be backward compatible all the way to the original PlayStation. It will also have slots for Memory Stick Duo, an SD slot, and a compact flash memory slot. It will also sport a slot for a detachable 2.5-inch HDD, somewhat similar the Xbox 360's. Sony did not mention if the drive would be standard.
Sony also laid out the technical specs of the device. The PlayStation 3 will feature the much-vaunted Cell processor, which will run at 3.2GHz, giving the whole system 2 teraflops of overall performance. It will sport 256MB XDR main RAM at 3.2GHz, and it will have 256MB of GDDR VRAM at 700MHz.
p
XBOX 360 is only capable of 1 teraflop by the way.
now i can see the other buttons... the tower looks nice but the controller is wack. xbox has already won the battle
LOL - you buy a system based on looks? The new xbox looks like crap
plus - check this shit out:
The PS3 will be fully "backward compatible," playing all existing PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games. It will come equipped with a Blu-Ray DVD drive and support the sharpest format for HDTV, 1080p.
Wireless controllers using Bluetooth technology will be standard. Sony (Research) said the system will support up to seven simultaneous players, a significant boost from the four standard today.
Additionally, PSP owners will be able to use their handheld gaming device as either a controller or an additional screen, perhaps viewing tactical or statistical information that ties in with the game on your television.
fucking AMAZING!!
What can xbox come with to fuck with that?? NOT A DAMMMMMMM THING!
You don't like the controller? Go buy a different one!
mmmm both the xbox and playstation look huge... nintendo's system is suppsoedly small as... wonder how it will go...
I don't understand why anyone cares. It just sits on your floor. They can't pack that much power into a system and keep it the size of a DVD. The nintendo system may be smaller, but it will also be a piece of shit in comparison.
XBOX 360 is only capable of 1 teraflop by the way.
You can compare tech b/s all day long but it means nothing. There hasn't been a game yet that pushed the boundaries of the system it was on and they won't be starting anytime soon. It's going to come down to who has who in exclusive contracts. Myself, I like Halo and therefore will get a 360. I also know that there are millions in the US just like me.
