I use the mozilla mail client.. it has a spam filter built in and its free.

not real efficient when you're getting thousands of pieces of spam every day. Sure, it deletes them, but how much time does that eat up every day, and they'll just be back tomorrow.Originally posted by BradM

That client doesn't have much functionality in my opinion. There's no way to export, backup, or archive your mail. And that's the killer for me. That simply won't do. I have every piece of email for the last 5 years archived here, and frequently, I need to open those up and look something up.Originally posted by EviLGuY

What happens if your computer suddenly goes up in smoke one day? You lose everything on your c:\ drive and you have no backup of your email?

Whats fucked up about all these spam filters in my opinion is that it still downloads the spam and then puts it in a different folder. 1 youre still waiting for all that shit to download 2 youre gonna be checking the deleted spam folder anyway.
I want something that can be integrated in outlook and deletes th spam from the server before downloading it. So far i havent found anything.Comment

I second the recommend for Cloudmark. It's filtering about 5k spams a day out of my email stream and passing less than a hundred. Very rare for it to eat a real email.Originally posted by Chupachups

You'll need a server side solution to delete the spam on the server. A client side program can't classify it as spam unless it downloads it.Comment

I use bayesian spam filter Spam Bully at work, and it's very, very good. if it supports the Outlook and Outlook Express mail clients, I highly recommend it.Comment

spampal is what I use and its free. It does however download the spam, it has to. Anything run on the client side has to fetch it from the pop server before processing it. If you dont want it downloaded then you have no choice but to use a server side solution like spam assasian.Comment

k9 is amazing. But with a huge wordlist it consumes 30-50 megs. I hate it when progs waste my memory even if enough is there.

Outlook filters work for me. I have a list of some words, and if any of them is found in the email body, the email is deleted. Simple as that, and I don't bother with outside applications.Comment
