When I buy domains, I usually pay less than they are worth... but when I sell some, then I sell them for less than they are worth too
And no, I am not an idiot, when I buy a domain for $2.5k, and it's market price is about $10k, then i won't sell it for less than $30k or so...
But sometimes I register some name for $8, then I sell it for $80 few months later and soon after that I realise t was worth like $300
