same reason usa doesn't have a good team... soccer isn't big over there. india is into cricket. fuck only knows what china is into.
if soccer was as popular in the usa as it is in places like italy and brazil then the usa would surely have a good team. even i could string together a good team given the usa's 270 million population.
sure the usa excels in many of its popular sports. its a big country, it has big resources. the population is huge! when you have such a big population there have to be good sportsmen that excel in their own niche, be is basketball, hockey, "football", baseball or otherwise.
more or less, its down to size. you'll hardly ever see a smaller country with a smaller 2 million population excel in a sport such as soccer. of course there are always exceptions.
england has around a 60 mil population. a smaller country shouldn't be much of an opposition in soccer. but bring together the best players from 30 smaller countries (30*2mil popul. =60mil popul. ) and it'll be one hell of a competitor for the england team.
more or less, its all down to size.
seems that cheating is popular in russia. when it comes down to the sport of professional cheating, russia would cream any other country by far. hence, i proved my theory. ;)
