I want a second unit but I'm not paying another $12 a month, fuck that. Anyone know how to clone the eeprom from the first onto the second or some shit? I can't switch to DTV either.

You can't hack the normal one for free service. Just step up to the plate and buy the lifetime on it for $249.
The only hack i know of for tivo 2 is a 30sec commercial skip feature.
Tivo 2 rocks if you have 2, since you can share programs between units.Comment
