So a store told me my epassporte visa card was fake

I was at the store this morning Just got my epassporte card in the mail so i was like hell i test it out

went and bought a pepsi at the store to test it

they look at the card and say " thats not a real card the numbers are not raised on the card ! " and I was like " umm what? " and the lady tried to tell me that tihs card is not real and that if I did not hvae any other way to pay she was going to call the cops

so i used my visa bank card that i have and they let me on my way

wtf ?

aynoen else have this trouble? Do clerks get confussed because it says Visa Electron ?

The electron card is nothing more than an ATM card. It's not like a Visa debit card you get from the bank that will allow you to use it anywhere Visa is accepted. You can only use it places that accept ATM payments. (Which I would think the gas station would be)

No the electron card is the one that they send you in the mail

candyflip call epasspote 1-877-372-7790 and ask .. ANywhere that takes visa will take the electron card ... It is a new form of payment and they dont have to take atm payments ... Call and ask.

Looks like it doesn't matter what they tell you. The store wouldn't take it, and that's what counts, right?

I've had the same issue with this card. And this was what I came up with when doing a little research. They aren't the same or as widely accepted as my bank issued debit card. Just my

that is what I am saying ... and it is accepted at any location that takes visa ... It was just a stupid kid that doesnt know what he was talking about trying to be cool. I'm off to use it at another store just to prove to you that it is taken where VISA Is accepted not atm payments

Visa Electron debit cards are very popular pretty much everywhere outside the United States... in Vegas most of the shop keepers recognize them because all the foreigners use them.. tell the lady to fuck off and try to run the card through.. let her call the cops then sue the store for waisting your time

I had an ATM card from a dodgy offshore bank that was completely flat (no raised metallic numbers) and it worked fine in all the machines I tried it in.

Worked fine until they went out of business with $2k still in my account...

I hate when people do that. about a month ago i was at a club in vancouver and the bouncer's like naah that's fake. i just started laughing i was aiight then you got me man. all my friends starting freaking out "this is phatzane u dumb fucks blah blah blah". i was like "guys no worries". just laugh when that shit goes down man, its funny

was the clerk an import by any chance?

That's one of the reason why you should always withdraw your epassporte money in ATMs.

I never tried to pay something with it in a store.

Well if you use your epassporte to pay for small stuff than you are the moron, not the clerk. Ever checked their fees? Also, don't act like you are the king of the world when you're not. If I would run a store and I would get someone willing to pay with a card that looks as fake as an epassporte virtual card, I would kick him out for sure!

An ePassporte Visa Electron card is as real as any other issuers Visa card.

It's true that Electron cards are not as well known in the U.S. as they are abroad, but ignorance doesn't change the facts.

ePassporte's Visa Electron card will work at any merchant that accepts Visa and gets an electronic authorization.

Granted, I've had a couple of U.S. clerks look at the card twice as well. Only one ever questioned me about it and still took it for payment.

Without the raised numbers I guess they couldn't use the old style "impression" swipe machines. I know some "trades" use them, like a plumber that comes to your house for example. However, they can usually just write the numbers on the slip.
