Actually the same situation with that happened to Tam happened to me with my daughter yesterday - only I saw it coming *I knew this fucking thing was going to happen* and when I heard *OH YEAH--** I started singing veryyyyyyy loudly - but she caught the 'pussy' part and repeated it! I corrected her with *that's SUSIE sweetheart - repeat after me SUUUUUUUUUUU-ZZEEEEEEE* so she ran along.
It sucks - most of us don't work out of our homes - although kids are not in our home offices, they do come in and no matter how fast I am at closing the screens or turning them off & in the process I mouseover or in Tam's case she just refreshed - and it won't go away - then it doesn't help us as parents.
Thank God my son wasn't around with his friends - they would think we're sexmaniacs and I could just imagine the bullshit I'd have to hear from the neighbours.
Moral of story - I hate it & I think it's unprofessional - If I'd want my kids subjected to this, I'd leave pornos around the house. If it must be tolerated, onmouseout should be in effect.
As for leaving GFY for a banner sound - from the responses I see, I think there wouldn't be too many people left other than surfers - I'm sure GFY would be happy about that.

Whenever something comes up like this it seems like it takes forever to get it changed, if it ever does get changed. Another example is the search function, which has been broken for a while now. Same for me, I don't what I hit, moused over, whatever, but my volume was WAY load from listening to a cd earlier and the message came out really loud and scared my son, he jumped up and said "what was that" because to him it sounded like someone getting hurt. Luckily he didn't hear what exactly was said, but I don't like the sound banners because of that situation. I have people over all the time and I am always working when they are here, so personally I don't think its professional.~Kacy

I can understand if you don't like their choice in advertisement decisions or design, but to come out on a board like this one and put the thread header as "Naughty Bank Sucks" is just wrong and uncalled for. Some of you may not realize, but threads that deliberately bash someone's program on the boards usually results in loss of revenue.
Allie's team spent money advertising here, and sure they probably thought by sticking in some sounds of her (which I think is hot, but for surfers not webmasters) moaning would attract some webmasters, it's pretty obvious they overshot their expectations but you don't have to ruin business for her by making it seem like they are scumbags..
Think before you post next time. Perhaps put yourself in her place for a bit. She made have made a mistake, but does she seriously deserve to lose valuable webmaster business from it?

Where did she say that the kids were in the room? She specifically stated they walked into the room - kids go out, they play, they come home - they look for their parents....it happens....more often than not.

Well, like what happened above, my situation was somewhat worse. I had an ENTIRE room filled with family, friends and two little kids. I really do not appreciate this shit and if anything I hope they fail horribly in the future for being stupid enough to use such marketing strategies. The fact that they cannot even address this issue is just sad and unprofessional. Believe it or not GFY was very surfable BEFORE, without having to worry who was around you. I have no clue why the mods and GFY would even allowed such banners.

You have never been in my house, you don't know me...... My kids are MORE sheltered from porn than 99% of those who HATE it..... and you know why? BECAUSE I am a webmaster and I KNOW all the steps to take to protect them from it and I TAKE those steps.
My kids are not allowed near my computer or in the room where I am when I am working. We got them their OWN computer so they wouldn't be subjected to it!! I do TEXT (html and such things) when they are up and about and in the area and I do the image stuff when they are out or asleep. I protect my kids at any and ALL costs from anything to do with porn......
What I do isn't illegal, and I don't subject my children to this.... never have and never will. But I can't always control what SOUNDS are screaming from these banners, now, can I? It is because of things like that that I have had my speakers shut down for the past 5 years, this isn't the first instance with talking banners, just the WORST!

All I have ever had to worry about was the visuals, so I didn't give two thoughts to their being in the next ROOM...... I honestly hadn't really paid attention to it before because my shit is so off limits to them...... but I wasn't ready for the screaming banners. I think it should be a browser option. Mozilla can block images and popups from selected sites... make it so you can block sounds too.
That way you can bar whatever GFY domain you use, but still hear sounds elsewhere.Comment

Its sorta funny that no one has come foward. With this new annoying trend legit gfy flash banners will have to suffer. It's sad that no one on the upper end really cares, banner spots will probably have to drop in value due to all of us disabling flash on gfy.
