    Movie format for paysite - WMV to split or not to split

    So im encoding some vids into wmv for users to download As an alternative to mpgs.
    I spilt my mpgs in 4 for easy downloading and im wondering if should split the wmv in 4 also.

    On one hand the user could just watch the whole movie at once but on the other it may load faster for users on small connections and might not make that much of a diff to the High BW users since the movie will already be streaming.

    Any thoughts, Wmv...Split or not to split?

                  I say offering both would be more work, but it would cover both angles.

                      I offer both..... sure it is more work, but those on dialup have hell with the big ones and there are still a lot of people using the dialup thing. So I do both... it has helped!! It's worth the extra work if it makes the members areas convert better for longer. In MY opinion anyway.

                          true, how many formats you offering Tam?
                          MPG & WMV is what im doing. Split into 4.

                              That's exactly what I am doing with mine..... my clips are smaller though..... I think I cut them into two minute clips because some are REALLY huge, so I made them quite a bit smaller........ and I offer the mpg and wmv. Takes up more space and lots more time, but it is worth it because the people actually paying for it, likes it.
