For people suggesting Muslims are degenerates, well you couldn't display your ignorance any more clearly.
Any theocracy or form of collectivism in a government is evil. It is that reason that spawns the horrible stories this post referenced. If the United States became a theocracy of Christian fundamentalists, similar things would occur here. Christians have persecuted (read MURDER) just as many innocent individuals as the religion of Islam and any Muslim country.
With that said, I'm completely against the idea of a Jewish state. Likewise, I am against the idea of any Muslim state. Rather, Israel should exist as an independent Republic that guarantees the sovereign individual rights of all the Muslims, Jews, Christians, and others who happen to live there. (The same for a future Palestinian state).
America is NOT a Christian country, we are not a theocracy. There are writings by Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and I believe George Washington that reflect this. You can say America was inspired by Christian principles, but remember that those Christian principles were derived from Judaism, which like Islam, was dervived from Abraham. Mormonism (set to be the next World Religion in 2080), was evolved from Christianity, yet it is greatly based on the Book of Abraham and the ancient knowledge that binds all philosophies, all Mysteries, and all truth into one.
These facts transcend any one particular religion and are unable to be quantified in such narrow restraints. Truth exists without the burden of proof or the necessity of belief, for what is, simply is. If people would simply realize that the majority of the world (billions of people) actually believe the same idea (i.e. there is one true God; one real truth), then the world would transform over night. Yet they argue over the details and the righteous descendents of their specific interpretation, failing to realize the work of Abraham is the divine source to all spirituality and contains the revelations and enlightenment society seeks.
