    For the Fucking record..........

    I have been getting a ton of hate mail about a certain project.....

    If you go into a Mercedes dealer with 10k you wont walk out with a new CL 600

    simple as that.....

    come back with enough cash.....and then you drive away

                                      They did not wan to to over prepare.....we knew it would be hammered but We were not about to lay out the 500k in Hardware to "see" if that is what it would take.......

                                      We had 12 boxes on the job.....GOOD boxes....and it did not scratch the surface.......

                                      now we know....more importantly....now they know......

                                                                      CBS is cheap, Howard is cheap - 500k if that's what it takes to handle that kind of load though is alot of money to spend, it would seem to me that a few national advertisers would do well buying ads on that site - Stern fans are the prime demogaphic for beer companies, car companies, cigarettes, etc etc

                                                                                      you could not be more correct......and both the DreamTank team and the Stern team understand this thouroughly.

                                                                                      We have been working with advertisers for weeks ....but folks you cannot get big dollars without big results nobody is digging deep when it looks good on paper.......

                                                                                      maybe just maybe.....this was done by design to not have to dip into profit margins for investment when the proof of concept has nerver been live

                                                                                      now......proof of concept returns staggering numbers and the digging will go deep now......

                                                                                                          We are a business not a charity and they know that....we will deep discount up until the point where it makes no sense....and they know that.

                                                                                                          Jeff Schick from IBM has been great.....you dont make knee jerk decisions when you are talking about this many people

                                                                                                          I think we will have 100,000 a day active and posting.......

                                                                                                          it will evolve......

                                                                                                              Jim - had they over prepared & it not make a difference *on the servers* = no news & people wouldn't have noticed this advertiser heaven. It was a great PR whether intentional or not , it worked in his favour! I'd more than love to know how many people hit that message he put out - any numbers? ;)

                                                                                                              On a side note - will the ones that originally registered maintain their usernames & passwords or will it be a fresh new database & the fury begins once again?

                                                                                                                      USENET but's it's now filled with 80% self hating Stern fans/haters. Not enough medication to treat those people. I was one of the early mainstays of that group when it was great. everybody left including me long ago.

                                                                                                                      The guy who started the newsgroup in 95 is Nick Simcich a security guru - hope he's still alive. I was such a Stern fan that I bought an early version of Real Audio server that Nick installed on his box and Nick would leave that day's show on it for me to listen to at night cuz i couldn't any longer get the show in my area.
