I just got front row tickets to see the Doors of the 21st Century (basically the Doors with Ian Astbury singing) - whoohoo, I love the Doors!

I totally agree -the Doors were Jim Morrison. BUT - that was before my time - so this is the closest I will get in my lifetime and I also think Ian Astbury's a helluva singer & performer.Originally posted by AVMSweet, Jim Morrison is back from the dead?
I can't wait for Lennon and 2pac tickets, later this summer.
[/Sarcasm] aside, the doors aren't the doors without Morrison. But nevertheless, enjoy.Comment

fuck the haters - if this was just a Judas Priest situation where they grab some tribute band singer to replace the original I would agree. But it's motherfucking Ian Astbury - from the Cult, who deserves mad respect as well.Originally posted by FranckCrap.
Same with Queen...i love their music but i couldnt be bothered getting a ticket for their show with a new singer. Total bullshit.Comment

I have a dvd with the Doors playing with several singers. Ian was the best from what ive seen but still, the Doors was 70% Jim and 30% the bandmembers. Now the Doors is just 30% bandmembers...a huge part is missing, the most important part.Originally posted by badmunchkinfuck the haters - if this was just a Judas Priest situation where they grab some tribute band singer to replace the original I would agree. Of course it is, trust me, I'm a HUGE Morrison fan, but I'm also a huge fan of the Cult. Bottom line is, this is as close as it comes to the real thing now - I can sit back and play armchair critic or I can go enjoy what should be a good rock show.Originally posted by FranckI have a dvd with the Doors playing with several singers. People are too worried about the legacy sometimes - Jim wanted the Doors to keep playing without him - I don't think he even realized how important he was to their sound & direction.Comment

oh, and why do you have a DVD of the Doors jamming with other singers if you're such a purist?Originally posted by FranckI have a dvd with the Doors playing with several singers. Try 90% Jim and 10% the band. I have lost total respect for the rest of the band, they have been doing nothing but living from and making money from Morrisons legacy for the past 30 years. Every 5 years or so they put out another greatest hits cd with the same shit to try keep it alive. With the exception of Manzarek, Densmore and Krieger were mediocre at best.Comment
