                          True story:

I have two Pits, and last night I had one of my worst ideas ever, that they would enjoy sitting outside with us lighting off some fountain type fireworks. As soon as the first one went off the littler one (Baby) went completely out of her head and lunged at the fountain with baaaaaad intentions, damn near pulled me onto my face in the street and dragged me by her leash until I got her under control. She was still going nuts, my other Pit Buster didn't know what the hell was going on. He didn't seem to care too much about the fireworks but Baby going nuts was making him crazy and with nothing else to attack he eventually went after her.

We had a bigass fountain going off in the middle of the street, Baby was trying to attack it and I was fighting for control of her while Buster was trying to attack Baby and the gf and kids were all screaming their asses off.

Hell of a way to start off Independence Day

                          Buster

my dad had a dog when i was a kid, and it was pitbull. she was very well behaved. then about a year before she died, she attacked my father.

he was on the couch, she was in the other room laying down....just fuckin snapped on my father. luckly, it calmed down pretty quick & everything was cool again.

she was never mis-treated, very well taken care of, even spoiled a bit. its just in their blood. its their nature to attack. doesnt matter how they are brought up, they can and will snap.

Now, you want to know what dog goes INSANE at the taste of blood?? A cocker-spaniel (hunting dogs). If they are feeding off of a dead animal and you walk near it, you better pray to the sky that you are either:

                                  A) Faster than that dog
                                  B) Faster than at least one of your friends

                                  otherwise, your ass is grass

it takes a special type of owner to have pits and also make sure their bloodline is not faulty.....me personally i wouldn't have a pit unless i kept a pistol near me at all times

What you are describing can happen to any breed of dog.

Genetically, pittbulls are made to fight other dogs; not people. Dogs that attacked their handlers were put down.

This is completely false and nonsense. My sister, a Veternarian, has confirmed this for me on more than one ocassion.

No one breed of dog, Rottweiller, Pitbull, German Sheppard or Poodle is genetically more predisposed to get "crazy".

Feeding blood to an animal to make it wild is another falacy.

Dogs have been domesticated for 1000's of years, you think a little blood just gonna change that?

It is necessary to emphasize that a fatal dog attack is an exceptionally unusual event. Approximating 20 deaths per year in a dog population of 53 million yields an infinitesimal percent of the dog population (.0000004%) involved in a human fatality.

                                            THE BREED FACTOR
Many communities and cities believe that the solution to prevent severe and fatal dog attacks is to label, restrict or ban certain breeds of dogs as potentially dangerous. If the breed of dog was the primary or sole determining factor in a fatal dog attack, it would necessarily stand to reason that since there are literally millions of Rottweilers, Pit Bulls and German Shepherd Dogs in the United States, there would have to be countless more than an approximate 20 human fatalities per year.

Since only an infinitesimal number of any breed is implicated in a human fatality, it is not only unreasonable to characterize this as a specific breed behavior by which judge an entire population of dogs, it also does little to prevent fatal or severe dog attacks as the real causes and events that contribute to a fatal attack are masked by the issue of breed and not seriously addressed.

Pit Bulls in particular have been in a firestorm of bad publicity, and throughout the country Pit Bulls often bear the brunt of breed specific legislation. One severe or fatal attack can result in either restrictions or outright banning of this breed (and other breeds) in a community. While any severe or fatal attack on a person is tragic, there is often a tragic loss of perspective as to degree of dangerousness associated with this breed in reaction to a fatality. Virtually any breed of dog can be implicated in a human fatality.

From 1965 - 2001, there have been at least 36 different breeds/types of dog that have been involved in a fatal attack in the United States. (This number rises to at least 52 breeds/types when surveying fatal attacks worldwide). We are increasingly becoming a society that has less and less tolerance and understanding of natural canine behaviors. Breed specific behaviors that have been respected and selected for over the centuries are now often viewed as unnatural or dangerous. Dogs have throughout the centuries served as protectors and guardians of our property, possessions and families. Dogs have also been used for thousands of years to track, chase and hunt both large and small animals. These natural and selected-for canine behaviors seem to now eliciting fear, shock and a sense of distrust among many people.

There seems to be an ever growing expectation of a "behaviorally homogenized" dog - "Benji" in the shape of a Rottweiler. Breeds of dogs with greater protection instincts or an elevated prey-drive are often unfairly viewed as "aggressive or dangerous". No breed of dog is inherently vicious, as all breeds of dogs were created and are maintained exclusively to serve and co-exist with humans. The problem exists not within the breed of dog, but rather within the owners that fail to control, supervise, maintain and properly train the breed of dog they choose to keep.

Would you keep children in a house with cars in the garage?

The odds of a child being mauled by the family dog are far less than the odds of them being involved in a fatal car accident.

What r u smoking dude...I have a staffy (Staffordshire Bull Terrier) or a smaller version of a pitty as some people like to think and i would trust him round my 2 year old son before a lot of adults. The biggest problem with any dog breed is stupid owners.

Pittbulls, staffys, bullterriers all those breeds where yes its a fact bred originally as bull baiting or fighting dogs, this has to the most part been bred out and is not even a real issue, the problem with these dogs is they are incredibly strong, moreso than most other breeds and are also incredibly smart. If you get a dog like that and train it wrong or mistreat it then the pottential for dissaster is greater than with say for instance a normal terrier which i might add are more prown to be viscious than bull breeds.

The other problem with these sort of dogs is stupid people like yourself making un educated comments on a topic they know nothing about...all you do is add to the public fear.

Do some research and you will find that it is not often a bull breed that is involved in attacks on humans it only looks that way caus it sells papers.

does this look like the face of a monster to you?

This guy couldn't be more gentle with people, but he might knock you down and lick you to death. You gotta watch him around other dogs though.
