He wasn't into her, but she was into him - confusing the father figure with love as young girls often do. There was nothing sexual hinted at, at least not in the American version. Just her wanting to be a grown up and doing all the things she thought grown ups do - smoking, shooting people.. all that stuff. It wouldn't really have worked with her wearing below the knee dresses and tights. She was growing up too fast in a crappy life.Comment

It seemed even in the American version there is a weird sexual tension not just from her but just a weird vibe throughout. But it is also extremely cut in comparison to the European version where it's straight forward what's going on. I don't think you can say anybodys mind is in the gutter or worked in porn to long and take everything wrong. The movie was made to portray a love story between them and us Americans can't deal with that so we had to get that all cut out and even in that version it gives us an odd feeling.Comment
