I have to say I do not believe there are only 14 million jews and I really find it hard to believe there is 600,000 scientologists

In a nutshell, I think protestants broke away from the Catholics.
I think Henry VIII started it in the 1500's or so.

Protestants don't believe in the virgin birth among other things.

again dont quote me either im no expert on western religions but I believe Henry VIII started the Church of England because he wanted a divorce from one of his many wives (the others he beheaded) and the pope would not grant it

so he started his own church with the king of England as the head (IE himself) so he could make the new rules as he went along.
