I used to be a regular poster on that same board. By and large it did present a balanced view and certainly in terms of being bullshit-free, it was/is one of the best.
But I quit a couple of years ago simply to avoid serious confrontations with the same person. She was often misleading about her own interests and things tended to get personal whenever alternatives were offered. In my case I was making objective suggestions, not even using referal codes. I rarely so much as used a sig in those days.
I didn't think that was appropriate given the target audience for the board, but it was fairly obvious that if push came to shove, I would be made to look like the bad guy.
Originally posted by baddog Well, according to Meat, I was not banned, just had my account closed . . . whatever that means. . . but apparently I am welcome to register there again . . . and we have even talked about the possibility of me being a mod there . . . we shall see.
This is why you should be revered, he gave you the opportunity to take the low road, but you choose to go the high road instead. . . .fuck-em
Originally posted by baddog nah, it is a board that has been around about 4 years, yet no one seems to know who they are when I give them the initials on ICQ
not 100% true ;)
Arguing whether the Democratic or Republican party is better is like debating which steaming pile of shit is slightly less stinky.

someone must have tipped you off, as you seem to know what board it is I am referring to
It's interesting that baddog should be described as confrontational - hell he was positively polite when compared to the sacred cow.
She starts a discussion by giving her opinion and God help you if you dare disagree with her and don't dare have the facts to support your view - she'll abuse the shit out of you knowing that her posts won't be pulled.

The second I hit that board I thought "Holy shit, welcome to 5 years ago".... it's not even threaded. Just one long droning on message board, a single thread that goes on forever.

sounds to me like he's ranting about Kitty's board, and she never gave me any problems. I've always been able to disagree with her all I want, as long as I'm civil about it.

Kitty's board? Asin Kitty and Dakota Kitty?
Welcome to last year . . . they don't even own a board any more, and she would be the last one to ban me from anywhere . . . . you do know we are family, right?

I don't want to send them the business by mentioning it by name, but others have given some pretty big clues . . . especially considering it has been around for 4 years
Originally posted by titmowse funny thing is, i read all the posts and responses and it all seemed like a very civil discussion...
It was ... and for weeks before that there were much more vitriolic discussions and personal attacks by a couple of board regulars and they didn't get banned.
baddog comes along - promotes his AVS and AVS in general in a non-spam way as well as helping newbies who were interested in learning more about AVS and gets banned - mostly because the sacred cow doesn't like to be proved wrong - after she asked for opinions about AVS.
Now the SC is over there promoting a TGP system that people here say doesn't work. Says a lot really and reminds me of the Pied Piper of Hamlyn.

Exactly what I meant by "She was often misleading about her own interests and things tended to get personal whenever alternatives were offered" in my earlier post...
I figure that on a board like this, it's caveat emptor if someone tells you the day of the week. But over there, a lot is done to create an atmosphere of trust. Add that to the nature of the main audience there and I believe there is a responsibility on the regular posters not to be downright misleading.

Which is why YOU are very much missed over there. Your posts were detailed and helpful. It was a shame you stopped posting.

to be honest, I was ready after about 24 hours to never return. but I saw there was potential, so I stuck around, got a few active affiliates, so it was all good.
however, if I had been someone that does not react well to attitudes, I probably would have left after a couple hours.
I am thinking of opening BNB . . . . give the newbies somewhere to go,
