    Comus Thumbs Filters

    Good Afternoon

    I'm wondering if anyone here knows about the Comus filter options (or ImageMagick) because I see a lot of sites with really High-Quality thumbs and I can't figure out how it is done.
    Even with a really High-Quality picture to thumb, and jpeg quality set to 100 they still don't turn out well like other sites.

    I know a couple sites have the "smooth" look to their thumbs (http://www.hqgal.com being one of them), but is there a way to achieve this through a filter, without having to go into PS to edit each thumb?

    Am I missing something?
    The filter for ImageMagick I have right now in the setting is:
    -unsharp 1.0x1.0+0.5 -unsharp 1.0x1.0+0.5
    which was the default one.

                      what quality setting are you using for your thumbs?

                      Also give me a sample of the output of some of the thumbs.

                      In gallery review center you can also tweak the thumbs also keep in mind.

                          forget last post i saw the site....

                          Some of the galleries you use such as some fhg's that have movies if the original isnt too good it will be very hard to get a crispy thumb.

                          I use the same filter as you and have no issues. I just weed out the crappy looking galleries which have bad pics originally to worj with

                              I'm using 80 right now, but I tried 100 and still didnt look too much better.
                              The thumbs are at http://www.hqbang.com they kinda look to sharp or something, not sure.

                                  I also delete the low-quality pics that are submitted to me, and work with only the high-quality ones. And even for pics, no movies, it still isnt too good looking.

                                      I painstakinly make my own thumbs as crisp or smooth as possible 90x120 at 4-5kb....lately I have been adding an overlay image like MPEG, CAM, VID...surfer seem to click on the more.

                                              yeah the overlays such as "Video" get clicked more
