Another affiliate program asking US how an affiliate does, what are your thoughts?

    Just curious,

    situation

Competing affiliate program ask us how is affilitate XXXX doing. HE wants to join us, but I would like some info...etc.

I told them, I respect the privacy of our webmasters, and he should be the one asking. THen we maybe forward this info...

Okay, few minutes later he contacted me, and he was honest and kinda new etc..So I told the competing program he is ok.

But I'm thinking to keep the info private next time. Because this way, we take the risk of a "bad" webmaster, and they simply get all good ones..

    What are your thoughts?

Only tell them if its a scammer, dont filter other peoples affiliates for them , its not your job.

If you have a good relation with the affiliate, and he/she asks you to pass some information .. seems okay to me.

Though teh request soudl come from the affiliate ... not from an other sponsor.

When you go job hunting .. and you say they can call your old boss for any information ... seems logic (to me) you have informed your old boss about that first (who knwos what he is gonne tell them otherwise )

I would ask affiliate XXXX first, If I can disclose any private information about him to another party.

Doing otherwise is just wrong, for whatever reason.

It does seem like a job reference. In that case, the previous employer can say all the good things they want, but they ca't slander you. If you were fired for cause they can say that, or they can say you didn't fulfill your obligations, etc, but they can't say things like "he's a scumbag" or "he's a theif".

Technically they can't divulge "personal" or specific damaging info, but we all know how it really works.
