Every girlfriends mom hates/is critical/ really hates whatever guy her daughter comes home with.
There's not many mothers in the world who would stop speaking to their daughter or something just because she was with some guy who doesn't get the 'seal of approval'...
They might make some silly show or not speak for some time or whatever, but it won't last. C'mon, break these silly customs like a man.
