Why is this thread bound up on total political bullshit that have no relevance to the Supreme Court decision and all we hear about from some "obvious" US people is total crap in support of whatever political party??

The problem is more fundmental in that, once again, we have laws possibly being passed that infringe on the rights of US citizens.

It is clear some don't actually know the word "freedom" since they show nada concern for it.

I'll repeat this again - No country in the western world has any such laws. Is the US gonna be the first to tolerate this shit like they tolerated the candidacy of an idiot as President? (Sorry if that "political bit" crept in - tho it ain't mean't to be political cos Bush has surpassed that way long ago.)

It was the Bush administrations decision to take it to the Supreme Court after it had been struck down by 2 appellate courts. They could have just as easily chosen NOT to contest it .

But when the nation's top law enforcement officer - the Attorney General, is offended by the topless statue of "Miss Justice" and puts a curtain in front of her, no one should be surprised that they decided to pursue this aggressively. He is a religious fanatic ,
who wants to impose his morals on everyone.

So anyone who says that this is not Bush's doing is either politically naive, or just plain stupid. What the fuck do you think Conservatism is all about ? It's all about telling other people how they should live- How they should think, what they should do, what they can see. It certainly isn't about Freedom. It's all about control.

My guess is that they will uphold it.
The Court has become much more of a Political Institution with Right Wing judges like Scalia and Thomas on it. They gave Bush a bad defeat on the G-Bay prisoners rights today. They are likely to give him a victory on this one to soften the blow.

Interesting that they delayed announcing the decision by 1 day, though.

Some members of the court - Sudor, Ginzberg, O'Connor - actually vote based on the legal merits of the case. But the Right Wingers Rheinquist, Scalia, Thomas, almost always vote based on the politics of the case.

It was the Bush Administration who brought this to the Supreme Court. They want this law upheld and their lackeys will give it to them.
