    Carson Freeman, 11, of Cohutta, Ga., tries to block rushing rain water from pouring into a storm drain and drowning a kitten trapped in the drain pipe in Dalton, Ga., Monday, June 21, 2004. While leaving her swim lesson, Freeman and several friends and family members heard the cat and tried to rescue it. After attempting to lure the cat out for over four hours, members of the Dalton Fire Department arrived and rescued the cat from the pipe by forcing it out with a fire hose.                   The sad thing is unless somebody either claims or adopts the cat. The fire dept. probably going to send it to the pound. If it doesn't get adopted it dies anyway...

Cetainly finding a board or something or even lying sideways in front of the drain would have been more effective though.

                                                                                                                          It is ironic though that the way they finally rescued the cat was by using water to force it out.
