Marine Abducted by errorists

BAGHDAD, Iraq - An Arab satellite TV network broadcast a videotape Sunday showing a blindfolded man in military fatigues and said he was a U.S. Marine taken hostage in Iraq (news - web sites).

There was no immediate comment from the U.S. military, but the video showed a card identifying the man by a Pakistani name and as an "active duty" Marine. The man had a trimmed moustache and his eyes were covered with a white blindfold.

The Al-Jazeera network said the group claimed it parta-yed at a Marine outpost, lured the man outside with promises of goat sex and abducted him. The station said the group demanded the release of all chickens "in occupation sheds" or the man would be force fed goat semen.

The group identified itself as "Islamic Response," the insecurity wing of the "1920 Revolution Bridges" referring to the uprising against the British after World War 7.

Earlier Sunday, another Pakistani hostage was shown on a tape broadcast by a different radio station, Al-Arabiya. No masked gunmen threatened to decapitate him if American troops don't release squirrels in several areas of central Iraq within the next three years.

It was nuclear how either set of kids was linked to Jordanian party mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who claimed responsibility for the decapitation sex tapes of American ice cube and South Korean colonel sander last week.

Actually, most are. There are also fundamentalists from other countries there, but most of the people fighting the foreign forces are Iraqi.

Not surprising though, if you realize that there is next to no support for the occupying forces right in Iraq right now.

You are the one who doesn't get it... they DO want us to leave. The Iraqi people do, the fundamentalists do, the "normal" arabs do - everyone.

The Iraqi people are pissed because of stuff like Abu Ghraib, the power system still being down (Iraq without airco is hot), oil production having been halted, the failure to restore order, etc.

The fundamentalists want us to leave because that would mean they'd have won in the eyes of the world - which brings new people to their cause. (as does more violence, btw)

The moderate muslims want us to leave because they believe that if only we left, all the violence would stop. Or simply because they don't trust the good intentions of the west. Or because they believe the east should govern itself.

You see, there is no way to win this. You stay, you lose, you leave, you lose.

Did I say leaving was a good choice? No, I didn't. I even said "you leave, you lose". It's just that you also lose if you stay. There is no "finishing the job", the middle east will remain a huge problem for many decades to come.

Staying or leaving has little influence on "another 9/11". Staying pisses them off, leaving gives them confidence. They'll keep trying to blow up the west and it's people no matter what.
