FHG's are a solid marketing tool. Instead of relying on individual webmasters to make and submit galleries that sell their sites, sponsors have something which appeals directly to the M/TGP owners (because they and not submitters earn from them). Most sponsors already have plenty of content. Gallery designs and bandwidth are cheap. Building the galleries can be time consuming (if the thumbs are made right), but needs only cheap labor.
I doubt if some of the rubbish out there came in much cheaper than the good galleries, so what does it say about the professionalism of a sponsor who puts out any old crap just so he can be on the FHG bandwagon? Do you imagine that FHG's are the only part of their business they handle so sloppily?

Why do we provide FHG's in the first place? Because affiliates are lazy. We give them FHGs, we give them content, we give them hosting, we provide them with every damn thing they need today, except the actual traffic. Is that next? At this stage, why don't we just send the affiliate a nice reasonable check once a week for doing NOTHING and cut our losses. It'd certainly be cheaper.
Give me a fucking break.
If we DON'T provide all that and then some, the ungrateful bastard will spit on you AND your mother and go to the next guy that will hand it to him on a silver platter.
Good business sense? My ass.
It's fucking lazy. Wanting a free fucking ride. Plain and simple.
