              step dad was a tanker in the iran/iraq war.... has 4 gun shot wounds on his body and bunch of really interesting stories

                  My grandfather, who fought in WW2 in the Russian Army. He lost his leg towards the end of the war in 1944 and was taken hostage to a camp, where he spent 11 months until the Russians came and saved him. I never got to see him. He died way before I was born.

                      My grandfather helped jews under WW2 and got caught by the nazis for it. He survived by pure luck, though.

                                  My father did 3 tours in 'Nam as a helicopter pilot for rescue missions. I have yet to hear one single story about it. He doesn't talk about it. Ever.

                                      My grandfather worked on the front gun on this ship during WWII... He's always got good stories, especially about kamikaze fighters.
