I'm a long time Howqard fan, so although I'd also rather hear funny stuff, I can understand why he is so charged up. It's hard to be funny when the governnment is persecuting you and fucking with private business so badly that fear and self-censorship take root. What's going on in this country overall with the corrupt administration and the mis-handling of the war and the clamp down on liberty and personal freedom is reaching scary proportions. as a 20 year Stern fan I agree with Jim Gunn - Howard's fight with the Bush government is real and the best part of the Stern show has always been Howard sharing his life with the audience - yes this past few months have been tedious listening sometimes but to ignore it would be worse - I wouldn't want him to go down without a fight. The only way he can fight back is what he's doing now.
He's still doing other things - it's not 4 straight hours of Bush bashing tho sometimes it seems like it.
in fact, one of the best things i've heard on Stern in years happened this week - Artie Lange's story about the worst day of his life dressed up like a pig when he working on MAD TV, running away from the set he was on in Malibu to meet his coke dealer and shitting his hotel room bed.
