Wow, I'm surprised at the number of females who think it's a bad thing or unhealthy. It's actually *more* healthy. There is absolutely no reason for a woman to menstruate and ovulate every month, unless she's trying to get pregnant.
Do you know why birth control pills have one week off so that a female will have her period? Because the guy who invented them was trying to get the Pope's approval and that made them seem more "natural". That's it.
In cultures where women breastfeed exclusively and have babies back to back, thereby only ovulating and having a period a few times over a long period of time, cancer and other female problems are reduced greatly. Basically, the more times you ovulate and have a period, the higher your risk is for all sorts of cancers and other problems.War National Damn Champions EagleComment

My wife didn't have PMS or a period while she was on depo at all. When she came off it however she bled for 4 months straight no lie. It was an anomaly that doesn't usually happen but it did with her. Worst 4 months EVER EVER EVER...

Just in my experience and my friends experience - sex drive was low and moodiness increased, more so than the regular pill.
I'd love to only ovulate 4x a year, but unfortunately I don't need anything else making me a bigger beeeyootch.

Women were not made to have 12 periods a year. Throughout history and with every other mammal, pregnancy occurrs almost as soon as the previous one ended.
This is NOT anything new - OBGYNs have been having women, especially anemic women or those with complications with their period, take pills non-stop 3 months in a row. I started doing it over 20 years ago, so it's been around for awhile
