Why aren't webmasters smart enough to not fall for "Branding"

This has always made me wonder. We have several "Board Personalities" who create intrigue and drama in the sole effort of advancing their own name. Whenever they are called on it, they usually say something to the effect of how smart they really are because they are just branding themselves and it's not their real personality.

My question is if we all know the people doing this and what they are trying to accomplish, why are they still able to do this? I find it insulting that they think I'm stupid enough to fall for their little game.

For Christ's sake, we are fucking webmasters, not a bunch of surfers. You have people telling you what they are doing to you and you still fall for it.

SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

I am selling my Sony DSC-T1 Camera with the batteries and mem cards the charger , leahter case and all that stuff.

350 bucks will take it. Year old. Works perfect. I am getting the T7 model Word.....

People still "fall for it" because it works. Anybody who says that branding does not work is truly clueless.

Example of branding in action.....

Everybody here has heard of Juicy.....I see that Clicky_Bucks has been registered for almost a year...Yet, I have no clue who you are or what you do.....Nor have you done anything to perk my interest for me to find out.

If branding were worthless then every major corporation in the world would not be using it to increase sales.

Visa, a very well branded company has used Donald Trump for one of their ad campaigns. Why does Visa need Trump?

It's called "branding."

The question is, do those same people have the "smarts" to realize when someone is just posting for fun. They increase their branding but at the same time couldn't care less what anyone thinks as they do their own thing off the board that 99% of the board would never even know about.

I do not think anyone is impervius to branding.

On the real tip I think that if something works and is practical whats wrong with getting the word out through branding?

Yes Branding is abused from time to time especially in America, where if somthing does not have brand its is not commercially viable. However the truth comes out in the end and the brand remains with or without the company that made it.
