    To those who believe in the "summer slowdown"

    Please stfu nigga.

    Every year i have to read the same blah blah. 1 person says the summer slowdown has started and posts 1:6000 ratios, the next person is even hit more by the summer slowdown and posts 1:10.000 ratios.

    Now for once try to let both your braincells work! Wtf does a ratio have to do with the summer? Youre excuses always are that is too hot inside, people go outside, people are with the family, etc. But according to your own damn ratios 10.000 people just surfed your frigging website, didnt they? So what are you telling me, they indeed do stay indoors to surf a site but its too hot to sign up?

    1:10.000 is NOT a summer slowdown. Now stop fucking saying that or i'll kill you.

                  "Summer Slowdown Revisited


                  I mention this every year at this time and this year is no different.

                  Back in 96, I think...we went to our first little webmaster get together. It was in Montreal and my wife and I met some of the first people in this business. We had this get together during the Memorial Day weekend. There was a man there who I still feel has a better feel for this business than anyone I know. He told me that when I got back home and checked my stats, I would notice that my stats were cut by almost half. At the time, I thought, this guy has no idea what the hell he is talking about.

                  When I went home on Tuesday, sure enough, my income was cut by almost half.

                  Now, there are going to be a lot of sponsors out there that will say there is no summer slowdown here. What I say to them is Bullshit.

                  Think about it...
                  First, Colleges and Universities are now closed so the guys with Daddy's new Credit Card are no longer surfing around for porn.
                  Second, with the better weather coming, more and more people are spending time outside. They are enjoying their pools, beaches, motorcycles and just life outside in general.
                  Third, people in the summer, just have better places to spend their money.

                  So, I am here to tell you that the summer slowdown is not a myth. It is as real as it gets.

                  But, there are things that can be done about it...
                  You are going to need to send more traffic and get used to your ratios not being as good as they have been these past few months. You are going to need to build more sites, more galleries and work for traffic as hard as you possibly can. While the surfers are enjoying your summer, you need to work harder than ever to keep your income the same as it has been.

                  I am going into my 8th summer in this business and have not seen one where traffic and signups didn't drop.

                  Just be prepared for it and work harder and you will be fine. Conversely, with all this new work and new sites and TGPs, after the summer is over, you will make more money than ever.

                  It's just the way it works and there is no way around it. The summer hurts our business. Don't let anyone tell you it doesn't.

                              I think there are 2 sides to this issue.

                              Sponsors use the summer slow down to increase shaving...and there is a real summer slow down.

                              If you think that there aren't less people at home at this time and not out on vacaction etc then you are kidding yourself.

                              I experienced it in years before porn selling on eBay...what I noticed were big pick ups in traffic and bids right around September through November and then from january until about April.

                                              Every other segment of retail has a summer slowdown and you want to say we don't have one? BS. Look at vacation stats. People are running all over the place for 3 months and have less time to buy porn. It is simple math. I notice it the most in the week before school and first week school lets out. The kids are active and the parents are not used to the new schedule so less time on the net.

                                              The same with hoidays. Anyone having a piss poor monring? DUH the kids are all over the dads right now.

                                                  people tend to spend less $$$ on porn in the summer as they are gearing up for family vacations....etc.......

                                                          The point is that if you are going on vacation in a certain month, you are not going to sign up for a 1 month membership or let a trial convert. A very high percentage of people go on vacation in those 3 top summer months so overall revenue does go down.

                                                                  Summer slowdown is real . Traffic goes down of about 30 % ... Never really seen something wrong with conversions ...

                                                                  But all i know is that in summer my tgps were going down to 300k a day and during the september long weekend it was going up like 400-450k and staying like that ... did that for 3 years straight (on many of my sites) so I really think it exists .

                                                                  30 % less traffic = less money


                                                                  On top of that, if you are taking a month of vacation with your family, will you signup to the site ?

                                                                                      It all depends on what you are selling, etc.

                                                                                                      For us business does drop off alittle during the summer months but then it picks right back up. This year is the latest slowdown we have ever had didnt start until june. Usually it peaks in Jan feb and there is a slight decline starting after that. I am talking about a 10 to 15% drop off in business nothing to worry about.

                                                                                                                      Back in the day we would all wait for Chrsitmas, knowing that hundreds of thousands of people would get a computer and online - and of course the first they would do online would be look for porn!!

                                                                                                                                  We're seeing more scrubbing, which has caused our ratios to drop somewhat.

                                                                                                                                  We're too new of a program to attribute any drops to summer slowdown. Smaller and mid-sized programs generally won't see a noticeable difference, but the larger progrms will.

                                                                                                                                  A lot of programs will come out and say "we're having our best month ever" so as to not scare off affiliates. We're having our best month this month, but that's mainly because we've been around long enough now we're seeing the rebills come in nicely and we're getting more affiliates pushing us.

                                                                                                                                          Can not some of this slowdown be attributed to the webmasters themselves. They take vacations, hit events, go party and basicly do less promo work.

                                                                                                                                                      They may be surfing someones site but they may not buy anything. doesnt mean its slow or normal, thats the way every site runs for every 10-1000 or 10,000 or whatever number, there is a sale waiting to be made..
