I already tried the becoming a editor approach.

Spent 20 minutes applying and got a rejection letter back less then a minute later.

Either automatic rejection or they didn't even read it.

            Tried that.

18 months ago for several sites.

            Doesn't work.

same thing for me, 5 min after \ i got the rejection letter

it's depend wich categorie you submit, tons of editors dont do their joib, they dont even Log-in to manage the categorie, they become editor to add their site and forgot about dmoz...

I've been trying to become an editor for about six years. Someone there REALLY doesn't like me.

I used to have friends I could hit up, but now I just submit and forget about it. Haven't had a new listing in about four years though.

depends on the category you're submitting to
some of my sites are in the que now for more than two years
other sites of mine got accepted within a few weeks

a lot of luck involved unless you plan to pay a small fee

I think they're trying to keep out the onslaught of SEO'ers that'd submit their sites.

Don't pay... it'll get any site submitted by your IP/E-mail address banned.
Sign-up as an editor, or go onto the dmoz resource forum and post requesting more info on your submission. If you want to sign-up under an adult catagory make sure you put in the aditional notes, that you would like to help out [insert x mainstream catagory 'chess/gardening' boring things once you have figured out how things work] it'll give you a higher chance of success.

DMOZ is a waste of time
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

If you are an outsider or a newbie, there is no way to get listed. Competitive listings are deleted from the que. All editors only list their own sites or their friend's sites. That is why Dmoz is the worst search engine on earth. It is a cesspool of corruption and hipocrisy.

100% correct! Editors and metaeditors are all fucking same ass**les... And it is not just adult cats - the whole fucking directory. Why Im thinking so? They kicked me out - not for listing own sites - but building the adult cat from nothing to its extince for one little language. Thx a much.

...ok that happened maybe 3 or more years ago.

                                      Where listed:

                                      http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=dwhs

I use addweb.com to submit all my sites, I have the $700.00 version and it works great. It also resunmits every month to the search engines that it helps with.

They do all the research for you, you click submit.

I can add you for $79.99 a year:

                                      http://dwhs.com/search-engine-optimization.htm

Good luck I am sure there are other ways that work just as well.

Also make sure and be very honest and not salesman like in your information.
