God is a fairy tale just like santa claus. Except God was created to keep simple minded peasants under control. And its still used for that today. People with any level of intelligence dont really believe in god, they may go to church and pray, but only because their community expects them to.

      Its sad really.

In *some* form or another. Maybe not something we can even understand while we are on Earth. It could be we aren't MEANT to understand that. And odds are the religious views from the different bibles are changed to reflect the people that were involved in writing them (supposedly).

My hubby believes in the Manitou... A sort of God that keeps the 4 other ones in check. But then he plans on slaughtering all of us in the Happy Hunting Grounds. lol

Seriously, does anyone DOUBT that there was SOME other power that got all of this started? Whether it was some alien race or whatever... Things don't JUST happen... they need some sort of catalyst.

Guess at some point we will all find out.

A alien race created us as a experiment, and they stopped coming to check on us because we are considered a threat now that our technology is more advanced,
Angels that came from the skies are nothing more then aliens.

Actually I go with the theory of the big bang and billions of years of evolution.

As do I... but as I said there was SOMEthing that did that big bang and no doubt, we couldn't even begin to understand it even if it was put in front of us.

My old man?! He is more in touch with the Earth than most of us from his genetics. (He wasn't raised Native American. and believes what he wants. Works for him so I don't complain. He got me to understand that while I thought *I* was Agnostic, that perhaps the title 'God' didn't mean a form we'd grasp as human, alien etc. So p'raps there IS something out there. Could have been a chemical reaction... Who knows?

People put TOO much in the belief as IF we are able to understand all things.

I also think when we die it's totall blank, nothing, no after life.

Someone ounce told me about some energy theory, that it can't be destroyed and it's in us. When when die the energy goes somewhere if we lived a positive life, then our energy is positive forever (AKA Heaven), negative vice versa ( AKA Hell).
They say if we can use 100% of our minds we could move mountains just by thinking it. If we could use 100% of our minds the body would almost be useless.
Basicly I think they meant you create your own heaven and hell, thats it's in your mind

Our brains are very powerful. It creates our perception of everything. When we die, the brain turns off, thats it.

                          Brain = soul

I'm with Gemini on this one. There is an ultimate cause behind the world we experience. Some source of all intelligence must exist. I think religion is an attempt to rationalize the mystery of existence. Bhutocracy said it best: "god is just the awe of the unknown." That sense of awe has roots that lie very deep in our consciousness. Men sense this and religions are created to bridge the gap.

Hmmm some of you are still attempting to put things in to a form that WE understand as a 'being'.

Chemicals accidently came together... etc etc. God is somethnig we don't comprehend in out current form. Could be an accident, could be some force that caused it.

                                We'll not know until 'after'.

As far as out brains shutting off, true to a degree, but what explains ghosts?! lol

I think their is SOMEthing out there that we will never know while Earthbound.

One of the funniest Far Side cartoons I saw was where these 2 fleas are sitting next to the fire in a campsite on the back of a dog.
One flea looks to the other and says..."Do you think there is really a DOG out there."

LOL that shit still cracks me up.

I havent studied ghosts much, but since im a firm believer that our "soul" is our brain, there can be no ghosts. So, anyone viewing a ghost is probably viewing some sort of hallucination.

I used to suffer from horrible back pain, couldnt even sit in a chair. Had to lie down on the floor most of the time. Then one night i realized there was no reason for the back pain and "told" my brain to knock it off. Back hasnt hurt since.

We only see what our brain wants us too.

True, but a belief in how a car works and a belief in an all powerful being sitting in heaven watching me jerk off to midget bondage porn are 2 different things.

Something had to cause it to happen, but even if there was God something had to make God.. arrggg
This is one of those topics that will never get anywhere

You are right we will never know the entire story, and even if it was layed out in front of us we probably wouldn't understand.

I used to suffer from horrible back pain, couldnt even sit in a chair. Had to lie down on the floor most of the time. Then one night i realized there was no reason for the back pain and "told" my brain to knock it off. Back hasnt hurt since.

We only see what our brain wants us too.

Well, you and I will have to disagree on this one.

                                                    a) Unless there's a God who cares if I kill people or cheat on my taxes and is ready to do something about it, it's not a God worth thinking about.

                                                    b) You're applying a model of physics from the everyday world. Any physicist will tell you that everyday physics doesn't apply to the beginning of the Universe. The Universe probably sprang out of a state that can only be described as "pure potentiality."

                                                    c) Still it is strange to imagine that the Universe had a beginning and yet, as it now appears, will have no end, other than a state of absolute entropy.
