Do you workout wear a belt when you lift weights

Have been seeing more and more ppl with belts at my gym... Do the belts help when doing heavier weights? Or are they meant strictly for ppl with back problems?

U should always wear a weight belt around your waist when lifitng weights!! You only get one back and lifting weights puts a massive starin on your back!!

I don't use one, and you don't need one unless you're doing heavy weights, like your max weight with 1-3 reps...and only for squats or deadlifts.

Most people who wear belts in gyms have them as a fashion accessory.

If you are general gym junkie or bodybuilding - dont bother - better to build up your core strength and stabilisers - unless you are doing low rep heavy leg movements. Rule of thumb - if you can do 6 - 8 reps - you dont need a belt.

If you are powerlifting - then you better wear one of those babies or your going to be hernia city.

Same goes with knee wraps - assuming you dont have pre-existing injury.

I'm not lifting that heavy yet but when I reach that point I believe it's usefull to support your back, always wear gloves tho that support my wrists
