The legalities of it are very much in question and a grey area like anything considered obscene.
Maplethorpe did have his gay anal fisting photo found not obscene in Ohio of all places. A couple of producers have also beat the obscenity laws on it.
Do keep in mind we are in California where the Miller test was born. Obviously this picture was taken not purely for sexual deviance or gratification but as a contest entry into a photography (art) contest.
Yes generally though four fingers or less is the rule, thumb should be on the outside. This of course if for pornography. I do think (far from being a lawyer) that since it was indeed shot for a photography exhibit that it would clearly fall into the realm of art and thus pass one of the Miller prongs. This weeks entries are of course judged on creativity and photography while wearing a given set of articles.Comment

OK, OK, I am the culprit. I only submitted the pic two days ago, and I just got an email a few hours ago saying that I had to resubmit a different picture. I wrote back and told them that I would just pull myself out of the contest.
Just so you know, there is no LAW that fisting is illegal. Please show me one, because I have yet to see it. Adam and I use one of the most well known attorneys (Lawrence Walters). He has reviewed the site, and hasn't told us to pull the plug, so to speak. We have been doing this for years, long before I started my website, and my site is just an extension of our lives.
Anyway, I have pulled myself out of the competition, so there is no reason to wait any longer. Sorry for the 2 day delay.

I can't believe the myths that you find on a webmaster board. In the U.S. there is no "fisting law." There is no "law against fisting." There is no law that you can't put the thumb in. (Or, if some jurisdiction has passed such a law, the law is of no effect unless the content is also found to be obscene).
